Julia describes her artwork ‘The Rainbow Dolphin’ as follows:

I love mosaic art that is bright and colourful and makes me happy. When I made my rainbow dolphin, I felt proud that I could achieve anything.

I like dolphins because they can do tricks and are friendly. Dolphins are my favourite animal. Dolphins look after sea creatures.

I came up with a few ideas and decided to make a dolphin. I studied dolphins by sketching them. When I was happy with the size and shape I used recycled corflew. Once cut out I covered it in lots of different coloured recycled paper handmade from the papermill. I added coloured lights and punched holes through the black paper in a wave like pattern.

I want you to feel inspired when you look at my artwork.

Julia’s dolphin has been illuminated by using battery operated coloured LED fairy lights.
