Alex describes his artwork ‘Roley Poley Sun’ as follows:

‘I learnt a new technique this year that I call Roley Poley. I use recycled paper and newspaper to roll into sticks. This is my new thing. I love it. I like to create art as I am an artist.

I sprayed yellow, red and orange dye onto my rolled-up newspaper to create a sunshine effect. I also used shorter lengths of handmade paper in hot colours to give my sun mirror different depth. I used a round mirror in my art piece to reflect the viewer on

themselves and what can be achieved through recycling, creativity and inspiration.

I love what I do.’

The mirror in the center of Alex’s artwork has been illuminated using a battery operated luminescent wire (multi coloured) behind the frame.
